Helpful information during your stay at the Pink Fancy Hotel

Luxury? As is true for any historic inn, it is difficult to characterize the Pink Fancy according to chain lodging standards. It is a one-of-a-kind, small bed & breakfast inn loaded with tropical charm and personality-rather than with expensive features included in the price of luxury-category resort hotels (such as on-site spas or restaurants.) We find that our guests appreciate the resulting savings along with our convenient setting as an oasis at the edge of historic Christiansted-where every amenity and activityis close at hand.

Internet Access: Bring your laptop or other wireless device, if you wish, to check your email by the pool —wireless high speed internet access is available at no additional cost. Or, visit one of several internet cafés within walking distance in Christiansted.

Electricity: Electric current is the same as the mainland United States-110 volts—and adapters are not needed for American appliances that plug in. European appliances will require adapters. Power fluctuations occur now and then, so you may want to bring a surge protector for your laptop.

Check-in/Check-out: Check-in time is 3 p.m. and check-out is at 11 a.m. Please let us know arrival flight information before you travel so we will know when to expect you.

Currency: American dollars and coins are accepted everywhere in the United States Virgin Islands. Major credit cards and traveler's checks usually can be used in shops and restaurants. We can direct you to bank machines nearby, and both Scotia Bank and the V.I. Community Bank have offices within walking distance of Pink Fancy.

Annaly BayDrinking water: Our drinking water is safe, but bottled water is available for those who prefer to use it when they travel.

Breakfast: Each morning, a complimentary continental breakfast is served by our courtyard pool from the hours of 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Coffee is available poolside beginning at 7:00 a.m.

Telephones: Each room has a telephone. There is no charge for local calls within area code 340, which includes our neighboring islands of St. Thomas and St. John. Long distance service is available, and charges will apply. Room phones do not allow long distance calls and we suggest purchasing prepaid calling cards in advance of your trip. We have them available for purchase at the Pink Fancy.

Cell phones: Most cell phone users will find good reception from anywhere in the hotel. Cellular service providers are Cingular, Sprint, and local Virgin Islands provider Innovative. We recommend you check with your plan provider for coverage to expect while here.

Places of Worship: We maintain a list of churches within walking or driving distance and can provide you with details before you arrive. St. Croix has churches representing these faiths: Catholic, Anglican, Moravian, Lutheran, Jehovah's Witnesses, Latter Day Saints, Baptist, Methodist, and Seventh Day Adventist. Several historically-significant Christiansted churches were built in the 18th century. There is one reform Jewish synagogue on St. Croix.

Security: Only guests have keyed access to Pink Fancy, giving a high comfort level to those concerned about an in-town location. We offer common sense advice to encourage guests to use the simple precautions that prudent travelers practice on a trip anywhere away from home.

Safe deposit: We do not feature in-room safes, but guests are invited to keep valuables in our safe if they wish to do so.

The pool at the Pink FancyPool towels: Each guest is provided a pool towel upon check-in for use at the hotel that may be exchanged each day for a fresh one.

Handicap access: As is the case with many structures on the National Register of Historic Places, Pink Fancy has some uneven steps, and no elevator to connect different levels of the property. The hotel may not be the best choice for visitors with some physical challenges as a result.

Pets: Pink Fancy is a pet-friendly hotel and our fellow inn-keepers, Peanut and Sally, look forward to giving you a tail-wagging welcome. Please let us know about your pets when making your reservation.

Hair dryers: Guests are invited to bring their own personal care appliances such as hair dryers, curling irons, and electric razors. Bathrooms have American-style outlets and voltage. European appliances will require adapters.

Mail: We will gladly include your stamped mail in our outgoing mail, with service provided on weekdays. A full service United States Postal Service office is located on nearby Company Street. If you are on an extended trip, we will be happy to receive mail or deliveries from services like Federal Express before you arrive. Please ask your correspondent to write your name and expected arrival date on the outside of the envelope or package.

Passports and visas: The United States Depart of State advises on their web site that U.S. citizens traveling between the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands will continue to be able to use established forms of identification to board flights and for entry.

If you, or someone you are traveling with, do not have a passport, it is required that you present a government issued identification (Drivers License, ID card) as well as an original copy of your birth certificate (with a raised seal) as proof of citizenship. A social security card will not suffice.

However, a passport is recommended for greatest ease of travel, especially since our visitors sometimes decide to travel to the nearby British Virgin Islands when they are in this region.

Customs HouseThe State Department advises: If traveling outside the United States or a U.S. territory, a passport or other secure document will be required. For example, a person may travel to and from the United States to the U.S. Virgin islands without a passport or other secure document, but under proposed regulations, a passport or other secure document would be required to re-enter the U.S. Virgin Islands from the British Virgin Islands or another country as of December 31, 2006.

If you are not a U.S. citizen but plan to travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands, a passport from your country of origin is required. Please investigate any other needed documentation before you travel.

Taxes: There is no sales tax in the USVI, which makes dining out and shopping in our duty-free stores even more enjoyable-the price you see is the price you pay. The Government of the Virgin Islands has an 8% hotel room tax which we are required to add to your hotel rate.
