Welcome to the Pink Fancy Hotel

Join us at the Pink Fancy and wrap yourself in the unique charms of one of the Caribbean's legendary inns. Charming and utterly relaxed, this historic guesthouse was built in 1780 and once used by gentlemen who rode into town from sugar plantations to discuss the price of rum. Today its courtyard pool is the congenial gathering place for a select group of travelers who look for an experience not found elsewhere on St. Croix-and one rarely to be found in the West Indies.

Room at the Pink FancyIn an era of impersonal chain lodgings, Pink Fancy's innkeepers welcome each guest individually to their small, upscale bed & breakfast inn distinguished by a listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Each room is different-named for a sugar plantation like "Mon Bijou" (my exquisite trinket) or Lower Love-and all are steeped in traditions of immaculate comfort and ease dating back to Danish days.

Outside the door is the colonial town of Christiansted, known for its National Historic Site, a seven acre park centered on the Christiansted wharf containing five historic structures to explore. The town's shady, 18th century arcades are studded with tiny shops filled with artwork, hand-crafted jewelry, and tropical treasures. Piquant restaurants offer the world's great cuisines-and some, along the boardwalk, offer island-style entertainment at no charge: watching toy-like seaplanes taking off, bound for neighboring islands.

Buck Island, St. Croix, US Virgin IslandsFurther afield, St. Croix—largest of the United States Virgin Islands at 28 miles long and seven miles at its widest—will tempt you with world-class water sports to plunge into, golf courses to conquer, white powder beaches to sample, and remarkable plantation ruins to explore. With steady trade winds and year-round temperatures in the balmy 80s, the island's pleasures are consistently available.

Here, as at other legendary small hotels of the Caribbean, you will unwind and truly relax—perhaps for the first time in years. You can stay active or simply take to heart these words from Herman Wouk's timeless novel, Don't Stop the Carnival: "A piece of wisdom the climate of eternal summer teaches...take things easy and enjoy the passing time under the sun."
